The present church was built in 1848, replacing an older building of which only the old tower survives. Six of the bells came from the old church, as did the clock, the font and many of the church fittings. The old bells were mainly cast by Lester and Pack in 1767 and now provide the ‘back six’ with two new Trebles added after the transfer to the new church. The enlarged ring of 8 bells has subsequently been re-hung in a new iron frame installed in 1970.
