St Margaret’s Church dates back to the last half of the 12th century at the earliest. The south aisle was added in the 14th century, and the upper storey to the Tower, which houses 5 bells, in the 15th century. The tenor was dated 1595 but was recast in 1952. The treble and 2nd bells are dated 1658. The third bell is dated 1785 and the 4th 1607. The bells are chimed regularly but not rung ‘full circle’ as the tower and frame require strengthening. All but one of the bells are inscribed, “Our hope is in the Lord”
