A ring of 6 bells was built into the tower while the church was built in stages by the Redemptorist Order in the mid 19th century. These bells were the cause of the notorious Soltau v de Held noise nuisance case which is still cited today. The ring was augmented by the addition of two Trebles in 1905 and the Treble and 4th of the original six were recast in 1976.
